Kayema solar home water heating
Kayema has a dedicated network of agents and installers responsible for providing solar water heating solutions to the residential market.
Kayema Energy Solutions (Pty) Ltd is able to supply any combination of the following solar heating systems:
Closed Loop or indirect solar heating systems heat water within a solar water storage tank (geyser) by circulating an externally heated fluid through a heat exchanger, without ever coming directly into contact with the potable water. A non-toxic glycol solution is used to transfer heat from the solar panels (collectors) to the water in the tank via the heat exchanger, so you’ll always have hot water in your home.
Open Loop or direct systems are different. In direct solar water heater systems the potable water from the geyser is passed through a solar collector and is directly heated by the sun. There is no heat exchanger used in this type of system.
Split System refers to a design in which the solar collectors are separated from the tank. This type of solar water heater is normally only used when there is a substantial distance between the collector and the geyser. A split system can be either open (indirect) or closed (direct).
Thermosiphon or thermosyphon solar water heaters use a method of passive heat exchange based on natural convection, which circulates liquid in a vertical closed-loop circuit without requiring a conventional pump. Its intended purpose is to simplify the pumping of liquid and/or heat transfer by avoiding the cost and complexity of a conventional liquid pump. The water tank must always be placed above the collectors in order for a thermosiphon system to work correctly.
