In terms of solar installation, Kayema Energy Solutions (Pty) Ltd is able to supply any combination of the following systems:

Closed Loop (Indirect system)

Closed loop refers to a system whereby the water is indirectly heated within a solar water storage tank by circulating an externally heated fluid through a heat exchanger. The fluid never comes into direct contact with the potable water itself. A non-toxic glycol solution is used to transfer heat from the solar collectors to the water in the tank via the heat exchanger.

Open Loop (Direct system)

Open loop refers to a system in which the potable water from the geyser is passed through a solar collector, and is directly heated by the sun. The system doesn’t use a heat exchanger.

Split System

Split system refers to a design in which the solar collectors are separated from the tank. It’s normally only used when there is a substantial distance between the collector and the geyser. A split system can be either open (indirect) or closed (direct).

Thermosiphon

Thermosiphon or thermosyphon refers to a method of passive heat exchange based on natural convection that circulates liquid in a vertical closed-loop circuit without a conventional pump. Thermosiphon’s intended purpose is to simplify the pumping of liquid and/or heat transfer, by avoiding the cost and complexity of a conventional liquid pump. The water tank must always be placed above the collectors in order for a thermosyphon system to work correctly

Solar Collectors

Kayema’s flat plate solar collectors are produced by leading Israeli manufacturers according to a proprietary design, using the highest quality materials and under ISO 9001:2000 QMS. They offer an unmatched level of efficiency and have significantly long lifespans. All collectors are tested to withstand pressure of 12 bars whereas permitted working pressure is eight bars.

Solar water heating systems are often more complicated than they look, especially thermosiphon (thermosyphon) systems. To ensure you reap the maximum benefits of your system you should always turn to solar installation specialists, such as Kayema.
